I love the idea that a single painting can be a national icon, a pilgrimage site and a source of history. The Black Madonna of Częstochowa is a pretty special lady!

Happy 2011

20 years ago I saw the original of Our Lady of Czestochowa in that city in Poland. It is in a beautiful chapel and kept covered most of the time....The priests pull back the huge golden door that covers it occasionally and I had the honor of viewing it when I was there. My family is from Poland and that was truly a wonderful and spiritual moment that I will never forget! The painting has a very special story behind it and that it is actually here today is a miracle!
